Photography Collection

The Kindergarten Museum has a collection of more than 8000 photographs, of which about 5300 are currently digitized. Part of the images in the photo collection can be viewed on the Finna.fi search service.

The Kindergarten Museum's photography collection includes images of the Ebeneser Kindergarten and its activities, as well as of people who have had a significant role in the development of Finnish early childhood education. The collection also includes documentary images related to kindergarten and early childhood education (ECEC) center architecture. In addition to photographs related to Ebeneser, the collection also includes images from other kindergartens and ECEC centers.

A sample of the Kindergarten Museum's photography collection has been published on the Finna.fi search service. The Kindergarten Museum's materials can be found on Finna by clicking here or by narrowing the Finna search to the organization Kindergarten Museum. Most of these images published on Finna are under a Public Domain license and are freely available as long as the license is stated. However, we hope that the photographer (if known) and the organization responsible for the material (the Kindergarten Museum) will be named in connection with the image.

Some of the images published in Finna are under a CC BY 4.0 license, meaning that the images can be used, but the photographer (if known) and the organization responsible for the material (the Kindergarten Museum) must be named in connection with the image. The use of personal images in marketing and advertising is prohibited without the consent of the person in the image. JPG versions of the images are available for download via Finna. Higher quality TIFF files can be requested from the Kindergarten Museum. We would also be happy to receive additional information related to the published images.

The images from the photography collection will be published in Finna one batch at a time as the cataloguing and digitization of the collections progresses. The publication of the images takes into account copyright and data protection, which limits the publication of newer images in the collections.

The Kindergarten Museum's photography collection is constantly growing through donations from various parties.
